Cookie and filling recipe from Christina Tosi's 'All About Cookies' milk bar recipe bookYou can find it on amazon by clicking the link below

Cream cheese filling instructions are at the bottom of the page ↓

Cookie Dough/Batter Continued:

  • 5. Fill each dent with two teaspoons of the cream cheese filling (the book suggests that your filled cookie should be about 2 & 1/2 inches across). Then place the cookies 3 rows by 4 columns before baking.

  • 6. Bake the cookies for about 4-7 minutes at 500 degrees Fahrenheit while watching closely for them to turn a light golden cookie (the book suggests swapping racks once cookies begin to develop a bit of color and rotating the pans front to back but it wasn't necessary for us personally but all ovens are different)

  • 7. Keep your cookies on the pan for cooling for about 20 minutes before moving over to a plate or airtight container (we used a plastic bag which worked well)

  • 8. At room temperature (not in the refrigerator) cookies will remain fresh for about 2-3 days but in the freezer they will stay fresh for a month

  • 9. Enjoy your very own Moonage Daydream Biscuits!

Cookie Dough/Batter:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit and spray or line two cookie/cooking pans

  • 2. In a stand mixer bowl with the paddle attachment, combine the cake mix and flour using the lowest setting until the dry mixture is fully mixed and there are no clumps (suggested time is a minute)

  • 3. Add in the egg and melted butter using the medium-high setting for about two minutes fully incorporated, chill in the freezer for 10 minutes or until firm depending on your freezer

  • 4. Using a 3/4 ounce cookie scoop (a spoon or ice cream scoop can work as a makeshift, just be careful when baking and watch the time) scoop dough onto cookie sheets and make a deep dent with your thumb nearly reaching the bottom.

Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 1. Combine/mix all of the ingredients together until your cream cheese filling is smooth and creamy, then freeze for 10 minutes before using to fill cookies.

  • 2. Use to fill cookies

We hope that you had a blast mixing, stirring, and baking your way through the galaxy of flavors in your kitchen. As the Guardians of the Kitchen, it's time to sit back, relax, and indulge in these sweet, delicious biscuits. So go ahead, take a bite, and let the flavors transport you to a whole new world of culinary delight!
